The goal of the Century Common Book Project is to engage the whole campus in conversation about one shared book as a way of building community and encouraging intellectual inquiry. For the 2007-2008 school year, Century has chosen Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi as its common book.
The Common Book Committee understands that faculty will use the book in their classes in a wide variety of ways, from teaching it as a required text to making a connection or two to the book over the course of the semester. There is no ‘right way’ to use the book, nor is there an expectation that every teacher will choose to use it.For those of you who are interested in exploring connections between your courses and Persepolis, this page provides numerous resources you might find helpful. You will find discussion questions for the book and helpful links to everything from articles on teaching graphic novels to maps of Iran.By midsummer, you will also find brief descriptions of ways in which some of your Century colleagues will be using the book in their own classes.
